Calling all BBQ enthusiasts and grill masters! Join us for the sizzling and mouthwatering 2023 Otter River BBQ Cook-Off, presented by The Otter River Sportsman’s Club. Get ready for a flavor-packed day filled with friendly competition, fantastic food, and family fun!
🍗 CHICKEN WINGS & PORK RIBS CONTEST 🍖
Choose your specialty or take on both categories for a chance to be crowned the Grand Champion! Prepare your tastiest chicken wings and any style of pork rib you desire, be it Loin Back Ribs, Baby Back Ribs, Spareribs, or St. Louis Ribs. The Grand Champion title will be awarded based on the combined total scores from both categories.
🍔 JUNIOR Q BBQ COOKOFF 🍔
Young grillers aged 16 and under, accompanied by an adult, are invited to participate in the Otter River "Junior Q" BBQ Cookoff. The contest will feature a special category - "Chef’s Choice." Anything the young cooks wish to enter is allowed, so let their creativity and skills shine! It's not just a contest; it's a valuable opportunity to teach children about safe cooking practices and the use of meat thermometers.
👨⚖️ BECOME A JUDGE! 👩⚖️
We are looking for passionate judges to ensure fair and delicious competition! The event is NEBS sanctioned, and judges will be accepted on a first-come basis. Categories for judging are Chicken Wings and Pork Ribs. We also need judges for the NEBS Kid’s Q Contest with the category being "Chef’s Choice." Help support the future of New England Barbecue and be a part of this amazing BBQ event.

Saturday, September 16, 2023:
- 2:00 PM: Cooking teams may start setting up.
- 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM: Enjoy a live concert and a delectable BBQ buffet dinner by the Bastey Boys ($20 per person).
- Midnight: Quiet hours begin.
Sunday, September 17, 2023:
- 6:00 AM: Cooking teams may continue setup.
- 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM: Free coffee and homemade Finnish coffee bread for cooking teams.
- 9:00 AM: Tailgate and Kid’s Q Cooks Meeting to clarify rules and distribute turn-in boxes.
- 10:30 AM: Kid’s Q Judges Meeting.
- 10:55 AM - 11:05 AM: Kid’s Q Chicken turn-in.
- 12:30 PM: Tailgate Judges Meeting.
- 12:55 PM - 1:05 PM: Chicken Wings turn-in.
- 1:25 PM - 1:35 PM: Pork Ribs turn-in.
Approximately 3:30 PM: Awards ceremony.
