NEBS Seasoned Judge Requirements

Requirements to become and maintain the status of a NEBS Certified Judge: 

1. Must be 16 years of age or older. 
2. Must take the NEBS Judging class. 
3. Must be a member of NEBS and in good standing. 

Requirements to become and maintain the status of NEBS Seasoned Certified Judge:

1. Must be a NEBS Certified Judge 
2. Receive 15 credits (one credit equals one day of judging event) 
   1. Proof of judging an event is required and needs to be recorded with the event’s Contest Official to be verified. 
   2. If a judge participates in judging a two-day event, two credits will be given. If only one day of a two-day event is judged, one credit will be given. If a judge is a KCBS certified Judge and participates at an event and has proof that will be accepted as a NEBS credit. 
   3. Judge will be required to participate in 10 judging events that include at least one tailgate, one four category, one Kids Q, and one ancillary. 
   4. Judge will also need to be a Table Captain at 2 events. 
   5. Judges will also need to volunteer at 2 events, which includes any of the following (turn-in table, assist with overall scoring completion, comp rep or marketing booth or any contest official assigned job) 
   6. Judge will need to cook with a competing team at 1 event. 
   
   
3. Must be a member of NEBS and in good standing. 

1. If NEBS membership has not been maintained, the person must reactivate their membership and pay the appropriate membership fee. 
2. If a person judges an event and is not a NEBS member, no credit will be given for the event(s) judged. 

Each Judge is responsible for keeping accurate records of judging events and updating their profile on the NEBS website.
