Calling all Backyard Cooks! Ever dreamed of testing your skills in the competition ring but, don't know exactly what to do? Take the NEBS Class 'n Cook this May and learn from expert pitmasters how & then put your skills to the test against each other! Cash prizes awarded! The Class: May 22nd, 10AM-5PM The Cook: May 23rd, 10AM-5PM Day 1: Learn to cook ribs and chicken wings on two different kinds of smokers. The class is taught by award-winning competition pitmasters, but geared toward backyard cooks that want to step up their game. Learn about the proper use of BBQ equipment, and how to leverage rubs, brines, and sauces to get the best from your barbecue. The class includes a delicious barbecue meal. See it, learn it, and eat it. After lunch you will put what you learned to work and prep for the cook on Day 2. Day 2: Things get real when you put your new found skills to the test with a ribs and chicken cooking competition. The contest follows the NEBS tailgate format with blind judging to evaluate your new skills. Equipment, meats, rubs, and sauces are provided. You will be paired with someone else+ from the class, and together you compete for $1000* in prizes. What You Need: - Comfortable clothes - Sunblock - Mask Recommended, but we with be outside Optional: We provide the cookers, charcoal, gloves, knives, thermometers, etc. however if you want to bring your favorite knife kit or any of the other items along with your own rubs and sauces you are welcome to do so on Day 2. (Yes, you can bring your own cooker, but please let us know if you plan to do so.) During the competition portion, you will be working closely with one other student and masks will be required when not tasting food, unless you are paired with someone you live with.
